BQ25750: Register Settings

Part Number: BQ25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi,

working with the BQ25750 I got stuck on two register descriptions in the datasheet:

- REG0x02 Charge Current (page 41): it´s printed here, that the steps are 50mA and the lowest value is 400mA, but when selecting the current in BQStudio e.g. for 500mA in the bit view I can see 0x28, this would relate to 12,5mA steps. Also the lower selectable limit differ!

- REG0x12 Charge termination current (page 44): It´s printed that the lowest value is 250, in BQStudio I can select down to 50mA. Same issue with the steps: 500mA is 0x28 in bit view

- Whats also not understandable for me that ICHG_REG is 700mA, but real current is only about 544mA (see picture) - even the VFB_REG is not reached (CC mode)

Best regards,

Achim

  • Hello Achim,

    1. Refer to the datasheet settings over BQStudio. Also, if you try to program a lower current than 400mA, the register will go back to 400mA. I wasn't able to set a 400mA lower limit in BQStudio.

    2. It's the same as the ICHG register. If you set a lower ITERM than 250mA, the IC will set the register to 250mA.

    3. We do not provide a spec for the ADC accuracy. When testing, I recommend using a current meter test the current. For an application, I recommend using another ADC to measure the voltage across the battery sense resistor.

Thanks for being patient with this. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards,
    Ethan Galloway
