BQ34Z100-G1: Learning Cycle use Single Cell or Battery Pack Configuration(8 series cells)?

Tool/software:

For the Chem ID I had to use only a single battery cell from my battery pack of 8 cells. Is that the same case for the learning cycle? In TI documents it is hard to determine if the instructions are for multiple cells connected(battery pack) or a single cell.
