TPS65994AE: how to impliment OTG function with BQ25792

Hi team,

Our customer want to use dual port USB PD controller device with BQ25792 together like below figure. And they want to implement OTG function (supply 5V/3A) like below.
"When charging battery on a USB type-C port, supply 5V/3A to connected device on another USB type-C port"

In the E2E thread(e2e.ti.com/.../tps65987d-how-to-configure-i2c_irq-or-gpio-as-id-signal-for-otg, it is suggested to implement OTG function, configure I2C_IRQ or GPIO as ID signal for OTG by following Technical reference manual.

Is this way same for TPS65994AE using?

Hi,

TPS65994 have individual internal 5V path for each port so the port sourcing 5V3A will come from internal 5V path instead of the BQ device.

Thank you for reply. It becomes clear, the function that the customer require is possible to implement with these devices.

Is it require any firmware configuration particular to use? I found below post. I'm slightly concerned.

Hi,

Theoretically it should work since you only need to write the charging parameter to the BQ device but as Jeff said this combo was never validated.
