LM5116: Failing to Simulate DC-DC Inverting Converter 12V to (-5V) Design Using LM5116 from Powerbench

Part Number: LM5116
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software:

Good day,

I have created a 12V to (-5V) inverting converter using the LM5116 on Powebench. However, when I build and simulate the recommended design in TINA-TI, I get the "Convergence problem, check analysis parameters".

Here is the schematic and the simulation file:

LM5116.TSC

How best can I simulate this without getting an error?

Thank you.

  • Hello Nyasha

The TINA model is modelled for typical buck topology.

If you'd like to simulate inverted buck-boost configuration.  Please configure the converter as a normal buck converter, and supply the input supply voltage between the drain connection of the high-side MOSFET and the power inductor output.
