BQ25120F3A: Regarding BQ25120F3A I2C Parameters.

Part Number: BQ25120F3A

Tool/software:

My Fall time of the I2C is too fast and as i was going through the Datasheet i haven't found any parameters of fall time in the datasheet. Fall time of sda is 2.4ns and SCL is 1.8ns.
Clock speed is 387khz.
Is the above fall time is okay ? I don't see any issues with communication level wise but for Validation testing i find it as a problem.
I have attached the waveforms below.

  • Hi,

These rise and fall times should be ok for this device. The clock speed is as well.

  • Hi Juan,

I have one more concern on I2C Hold time(BQ doesn't have hold time parameters in datasheet)So I referred to NXP I2C parameters datasheet.
Here in the data sheet it says it should be more than 300ns, But I see 230ns as data hold time.

Is this condition of hold time 230ns is okay?

    Regards,
    Mahesh.

  • Hi Mahesh,

Can  you clarify which hold time this is? (tHD;STA, tHD;DAT, or other?). If it is Data hold time, there doesn't seem to be a Min/Max specification so it would probably be ok. If it is a STArt hold time then the minimum specification is 0.6 uS at 400kHz clock rate so this might be a bit fast. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that hold time is sufficient for this device specifically.

  • Hi Juan,

It is Data hold time which is 230us.
Start hold time we see 0.645us that is okay.
Thanks for your help, This resolves my issue, Closing the ticket

    Mahesh
