BQ40Z50: State of charge after battery pack connection.

Part Number: BQ40Z50

Tool/software:

Hello

Is it expected behavior that when a programmed Battery gauge on a PCB (learning cycle complete) is connected to the battery pack for the first time that the state of charge will be completely inaccurate.

In our builds I have noticed that  when connecting a fully charged pack to the PCB for the first time sometimes the SOC looks accurate as in 100% and sometimes it can be totally inaccurate. 50% or lower

Is a charge discharge cycle required for SOC to start working correctly or should it be reasonably accurate from the very start.

I am just wondering if the connection of the battery pack is messing things up and if there's a recommended reset procedure to follow after that point.

Regards

Ian
