TPS65994AE: Power management forum

Part Number: TPS65994AE

Tool/software:

The system device manager has yellow mark on UCM-UCSI ACPI Device in Windows11.

The I2C Log between EC and TPS65994BHYBGR as attachment.V540TU.csv

We used FW version: 12.08 is fine, but FW version: 12.13 is Fail.

  • UCSI Command looks to be failing. I do not see the UCSI command being sent to PD controller in the logs provided. Can you provide logs of pass (12.08) and fail (12.13)?

Also please confirm the full FW version is F909.12.13?

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • Thanks for reply.

Yes, the full FW version is F909.12.13.

Here is log of pass (FW version F909.12.08) as attachment.

    V540TU_NoYB.csv

The Two logs was from system S5 status to boot into Windows. That is I2C signal between EC and PD controller.

How could I log "command being sent to PD controller" ?

  • Your pass/fail logs are helpful.

I do not see any major difference except in the PASS logs, there is a 4CC command 'ANeg' being sent. I do not see this in the FAIL logs... Is this the problem?

I also do not see any UCSI commands being sent from EC to PD controller. I suspect OS is sending UCSI commands to EC but some of the commands need to be forwarded from EC to PD.

I also do not know the flow you expect to do, but I see in both logs the GAID command is being sent that would cause our PD to reset. Is this expected? Can you elaborate on why this is done?

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • Sorry for late responded.

I can sure the bug is definitely follow with the different version FW. Because We were produced a lot of quantity with F909.12.08 and the same EC version. It was PASS.

Three weeks ago, I'd co-worked with Local FAE. But didn't get reply yet.

The local FAE Liu, Alex & Ko, Zoe had gave me three FWs for test.

They said it is reduce something updated between 12.08 & 12.09. I 'd tried. It also FAIL.

Do you know which updated would cause the fail?

  • There is nothing related to the 4CC commands you are sending to the PD controller. There is a change to UCSI Get_PDOS command between F909.12.08 and F909.12.13 but this was a fix. Is your EC using the PD controller FW version for verification of some kind? If so, maybe the EC is expecting F909.12.08 firmware and failing because of this?
