I am currently developing a High-voltage BMS using BQ79616, this design is for stationary Energy storage systems (ESS), for powering up the AFE (Analog front end) I am using a Buck converter to lower the voltage from 60V to 5V, one of the safety goals of the system is to be reliable and safe, so how can I make my AFE power supplying scheme more safe and reliable and calculate the corresponding FIT rates, single point failure mode and latent point failure mode rates? Any pointers or reference materials or design strategy would be appreciated.

  • Hello Vibhav,

    This will not work. There is a power supply requirement based on the highest VC voltage. Additionally, there is also a minimum of 9-V requirement for the supply voltage.
