TPS61032: Failure of TPS61032

Could you cut off the D35 and test the input of the device and sw voltage of the device and inductor current and vout?

What is the failure type,no output and the device can't restart after reset?

Yes ,  device can't restart after reset. ( seems IC damaged )

We checked for output and we do not get any output. we check impedance and found that pins are showing shorting with GND.

Right now we do not have current probe so could not able to take inductor current waveform.

Could you please test if the ESD body diode is still valid?

Under what condition the IC damage? I see that the Vout is 5V in the second figure. Is that the good ones?

When we plug in and plug out battery connector that time IC got damaged( DC supply is not present )

yes Vout is 5V this is the good one.

I have one doubt on datasheet, In functional block diagram PMOS is connected at low side and NMOS is connected high side.

but in detailing as shown below it is reverse , can you please clear this doubt.

Sorry about the misleading. The internal low side is NMOS and the high side is PMOS actually.

I did not get your point on ESD body diode, can you please explain.

I mean that each pin of the device has internal protection diode, for example,  between VIN and GND, the diode direction is GND+ and Vin-, so when you use the multimeter (diode) function to test the GND and Vin , there will be a conducting voltage of 0.5V (diode voltage). So is the SW to GND, VOUT to GND.

Hi we checked ESD body diode voltages following is the result

It seems damaged IC, SW pin diode voltage is zero. and OK IC having 0.552V.

What is your view on this. SW pin got damaged?

IC1 & IC2 NOK, and IC3 OK

IC1 and IC2 low side MOSFET is short in fact. You are right. Could you check under what condition these IC fail?

Mostly when there is no supply given to board and when we connect battery to the board it gets damaged( not every time). battery is connected through a connector.

i have also shared the schematic.

input is coming from Vsys pin of Charging IC(BQ24297). 

what could be the possible cause?

1. either L9 inductor is drawing high current?

2. or when we connect the battery some voltage spike developed and that damage the IC?

can you suggest how we can check ?

or possible solution for the failure.

I suggest to test the inductor current and also check the Vin spike and SW spike because high spike could definitely damage the device.
