TPS54334: PIN FMEA data

Part Number: TPS54334

Tool/software:

Dear team,

The customer are using TPS54334 for their application. But they would like to get functional safety certification using current solution.

So they want to get Functional safety information. I know this device is not functional safety device but Could you provide the Pin FMEA data for TPS54334?

Please let me know your opinion.

Thank you.

  • Hi Nam

Can you please share what's the customer and the end equipment?

We have no Pin FMEA data now but I can test and generate the report, this might take some time. Is 2 weeks ok for customer? I will need to apply for the EVM first.

    Thanks and best regards.

  • Hello, Gui,

    Thank you for your comment.

    - Customer : LS Electric

    - Application : Inverter with STO function.

If you share EVM test result for PIN FMEA, it should be great help for customer. 2 weeks is OK.

If you done, please share the result.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Nam

I will update when I got the result.

    Thanks and best regards.

  • Hi Nam

    Attach the TPS54334 Pin FMEA.

Thanks and best regards.TPS54334 pin FMEA.xlsx

  • Hello Gui,

    Thank  you for your support.

I have question regarding VSENSE port.

You mentioned, Once VSENSE pin is open or short to GND, " VOUT >> than programmed output voltage"

But we can see below comment at datasheet.

"The PGOOD pin is an open drain MOSFET which is pulled low when the VSENSE pin voltage is less than 84% or greater than 116% of the reference voltage Vref and asserts high when the VSENSE pin voltage is 90% to 110% of the Vref."

Once VSENSE pin is open or short to GND(less than 84% of the reference), I think the device recognize output under voltage and the PGOOD pin is pulled low. Is it right?

If the device recognize output under voltage (less than 84% of the reference) , what is next operation of TPS54334? Is it trying to up output voltage though The PGOOD pin is pulled low ?

And Once R6 is open at below schematic, what is operation of TPS54334? please let me know your opinion.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Nam

Please let me check about this,

    Thanks and best regards.

  • Hello Gui,

    Thank you for your comment.

I am sorry to push you but when can I get your feedback?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Nam

The PGOOD is a signal flag that can show the operation of the Vout, the PGOOD is pulled low when VSENSE is higher/lower than set, but it won't change the internal switching logic.

when the VSENSE is float/connect to GND, the VSENSE is low, the device switches to get higher Vout, the Vout is close to Vin.

    Thanks and best regards.
