TPS650864: Using to power Zynq ZU9EG with no I2C/CTL

Part Number: TPS650864

Tool/software:

Hello,

Can a factory-programmed TPS650864 used with no I2C communication and no CTL signals asserted to provide power to a Zynq ZU9EG device?

I am exploring options to use the PMIC in a design update where no I2C or discrete CTL signals are available to configure or control the PMIC. The goal would be to provide input power to the circuit card hosting the PMIC and Zynq and for the PMIC to bring up all its pre-configured power rails in sequence (Power Good signals can be used) without external control.

It was unclear to me from the existing documentation whether or not this is feasible. I would appreciate any additional detail anyone can provide.

Thank you

  • Hi Bryon,

Unfortunately it is not possible for our factory-programmed PMICs to operate without the use of at least one of the CTL pins being pulled to high.

Alternatively, we do have a user-programmable version TPS65086100 that could be set up to ignore CTLx pins. But currently, we do not have any pre-programmed PMICs that allow for no CTL signals.

    Best regards,
    Sarah Lao
