TPS7B7702-Q1: Short to Bat and reverse current protection for lesser VIN

Part Number: TPS7B7702-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello team,

We are planning to use TPS7B7702-Q1 for sensor supply in 24V system.

Input voltage(VIN): 5.5V - 6V

Output voltage (VOUT): 5V

Load current: 50mA max at each channel

Query:

Whether the IC is able to block short to batt (32V) at VOUT(5V) for the above mentioned condition.

We are expecting to block reverse current (due to potential difference 32V to 5.5V/6V) and high voltage at the input.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

Yes, this device has a reverse current detection circuit, which will shut off the output when a reverse voltage (i.e. VOUT > VIN) causes reverse current to flow. Note that in this fault scenario, the output will stay latched off even if the short is removed until the EN pin is toggled to reset the device. See section 7.3.3 in the datasheet for more information.

    Regards,

    Nick
