TUSB544: How to test the RX eye diagram of TUSB544

Part Number: TUSB544

Tool/software:

Hi TI Team,

We want to test the RX "Eye Diagram" of TUSB544 to check its RX performance, but no signal captured at the RX output of TUSB544 when plug in U-disk.

Can we test the RX Eye Diagram of TUSB544 by using below test setup?, or do you have other suggestions?

USB3.0 U-Disk -> TUSB544->USB3.0 TX/RX Test Fixture-> Oscilloscope.

  • Hi,

    I am assuming the 'Type-C' block between the 544 and the test fixture is a USB-C receptacle. When you connect a USB test fixture to a type-C receptacle, the 'RX' pins are inputs that receive signals. You cannot get an eye diagram out of these pins because they do not output any signal.

    Eye diagrams should be taken on the transmitter pins (TX) of the test fixture. This would show the signal coming from your U-Disk to the oscilloscope.

    If you want to measure the other channel, you need to take an eye diagram of the TX pins on the other side of the TUSB544. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Other things to check are:

    - Make sure the TUSB544 is powered

    - Make sure the U-disk is powered

    - Make sure you are probing the correct set of TX pins (TX1/TX2). This will be based on the orientation of the Type-C connection

    - Make sure USB3 is enabled on the TUSB544. This is controlled by the CTL0 pin in GPIO mode

    Best,

    Shane
