TPS561201: Audible noise when the current is low but non zero

Part Number: TPS561201
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS561208

Tool/software:

Hello.

I'm experiencing the audible switching noise with the TPS561201. When the current consumption is about 40-60mA, it is pretty apparent and annoying. When the load increases around 80-100mA, the noise disappears.

It raises a few questions:

1. Per the datasheet, TPS561201 should be in the pulse skipping mode when the load is near 0mA, which is not the case. Perhaps the current threshold is higher?

2. Datasheet states "Pulse-skip mode (TPS561201) or continuous current mode (TPS561208)". Does it mean if I replace the part for TPS561208 it should always maintain the 580-kHz switching frequency, so theoretically no audible noise will be there?
