TPS543C20A: Schematic Review

Part Number: TPS543C20A

Tool/software:

Hi Britton,

I attached the schematic and the filled-out design calculator for your review as we discussed.

I did my best to fill out the schematic checklist on the second page of the design calculator.

I have a few outstanding items that aren't marked closed, particularly for the RSP/RSN pins.

Also, could you recommend a 2.2nF high frequency cap. 0603 25V rated for the switching ripple filtering on VIN. Currently I have a 10nF 16v. At 14V VIN that's probably pretty useless. The datasheet for the TSP543C20 referenced2.2nF high frequency caps at 25V, but I wasn't able to find a PN.

I also placed the snubber circuit at the output as a place holder and DNI'd the components.

In the attachment I have provided an Altium project with the SMPS schematic labeled Switcher B (It is the only completed circuit in the project)

All relevant data sheets are also included in the attachment.

Thanks again for all of your help,

Matt

  • Hi Matt,

Thanks for sharing this. I will review and get back to you this week

  • Hi Matt,

After reviewing the schematic I only have a few suggestions:

    1. For the chosen resistor divider, you will need the 121kOhm resistor on VSEL to select 1.05V reference voltage. The OPEN setting will lower your output voltage to an unintended output

    2. You can DNI the feed forward capacitor C20. The placeholder is important, but your performance should be good without it populated.

    To answer the above question:

We typically use a 0403 50V capacitor for the high filter bypass capacitor on VIN, if you are okay with 0403 sizing then I recommend the C0402C103J5RACTU

    Best regards,

    Britton
