TPS25982: Output leakage current when EN is disabled

Part Number: TPS25982

Tool/software:

Hi,

When the EN is disabled, we want to know the leakage current through the output pin to GND. Input voltage to the device is 15V. This leakage current does not seem to be specified in the datasheet.

Thanks, I Jesuraj

  • Hi,

The device won't cause direct leakage from output pin to gnd as this out pin. Is there any concern or can you please explain some more about your concern.

    Best Regards,
    Arush

  • Hi Arush,

There is a 10kohm pull up resistor on the output pin and we are using this to detect the type of load connected to the output using different pull-down resistor on the load. We want to appropriately select the pull-up resistance to accommodate also the leakage current of the TPS25982 output. Hope it is clear now.

    Awaiting your reply.

    Thanks,

    Regards, I Jesuraj

  • Hi I Jesuraj,

Vin is 15V, enable is low so FET is off. Now the leakage path that can exist is Vout to Vin through the body diode of FET if Vout goes above 15V. If the Vout remains lower than Vin, you can expect some FET leakage from Vin to Vout. Are you asking this leakage, or can you please annotate which path leakage you are looking for.

    Best Regards,
    Arush

  • Hi Arush,

See below diagram. When the EN is low the output voltage will be lower than 15V, hence there will be no current through the body diode. I am more interested in the leakage/bias current for the IMON/dvdt/ILIM pins connected to the out pin.

    Regards, I Jesuraj

  • Hi I Jesuraj,

Out won't be connected to DVDT when Enable is low. so that leakage will be negligible.

ILIM and IMON uses current mirrors and won't contribute to leakage from out pin.

    Arush
