TPS61161: Shutdown

Hi Team,

In our design, the condition given here may not be satisfied, "The minimum forward voltage of the LED array must exceed the maximum input voltage to ensure that the LEDs remain off in shutdown"

How to circumvent the issue, can I add a high side switch in front of TPS61161?

What is the VIN and VOUT in your condition?

Hi Patrick,

Vin=5V, Vout=depends on the number of LEDs in the LED board. we have different variants of LED boards with 4-10 LEDS in series.

There is no issue with 10 LED in series but have issue with 4 LEDs in series, where the total min Vf goes to 3.6V

Hi James,

Because this is a boost converter, so the VOUT should be higher than VIN. A high side switch will help.
