EV2300 Driver Problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400

Hello,

One of the customers has a problem about EV2300_XP_Win7_DriverInstaller_Ver20a_20110106 driver. When the driver is running, the error is "Error 259 in UpdateDriverforPlugAndPlayDevices".

How could it be solved? Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

  • Please check if you have a 32 or 64 bit Windows Vista/7 operating systems. The driver mentioned in the post and on the EV2300 page works only for 32 bit versions of Windows.

For 64 bit, TI has released "unofficial"  drivers. These are on e2e at

    http://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/battery_management/f/180/t/128220.aspx

If none of the drivers install then the problem is either a clash of VID/PID of EV2300 with another device or an issue with Windows installation/permissions.

  • I guess this should be the root cause. I'll check with the customer.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Thanks for your reply, Shirish!

I just werified with that customer. His operating system is 32 bit Window 7.

While XPEV2300 is running, error tip is "Error 259 in UpdateDriverforPlugAndPlayDevices; no data available."

Is there any other possible reason for this?

  • The error is also possible if the installer does not have administrative privilege(run as administrator) but i think you are already aware of that.

Many users have noticed XP SP3 has this problem. Reinstalling Windows has solved the problem for those brave enough to go through it.

The EV2400 can be used to get around this issue.

  • I am trying to install the Thumbus2300 (sluu399a.pdf says that it is equivalent to EV2300)

I have the same problem (error 259) on my Win7-32bit.

I ran it through the compatibility wizard which suggests WinXP SP2.

Later in the installation process I saw the title "Welcome to the Windows Vista EV2300 Drivers Ver 20a Setup (Wizard)" indicating that it also might work by choosing Vista.

Now the installation process actually finishes without any errors.

Nevertheless, after install the device is still listed as  'Unknown device' with yellow exclamation.
