BQ40Z80: About the parameter " CC Auto Offset " in data memory -> Calibration -> Current Offset

Part Number: BQ40Z80

Tool/software:

Hi,

What is the purpose of this parameter? What is the significance of its value? I haven't seen much about it in the specs.

Can a short circuit in the positive and negative terminals of a battery cause it's value to change?

Thanks

  • Hi Veni,

The purpose of this bit is to automatically calibrate the offset of the coulomb counter while the device is in sleep mode. I believe that this is not a necessary calibration structure for the device due to hardware improvements. Below is the way to accomplish this calibration if doing it manually.

If there were to be a short circuit situation while the device is in sleep and calculating this value, I believe that there could be errors caused. However I believe that they would be adjusted the next time the device enters sleep and does the calculation again.
