TPS54824: maximum allowable long-term pressure

Hi Team,

In customer's project, the thermal cooling solution to be evaluated is by attaching the top cover with a thermal pad . As the pad will be compressed, there will be a counter force on the top of the component. We would like to evaluate and control such a long-term compress force. Can you provide the details regarding the maximum allowable long-term pressure forTPS54824? Is these info available on ti.com?

From the PE team:

For QFN packages, TI recommendation is Max 10N force when attaching heatsinks.

Hi Amod,

I want to know if the maximum pressure is related to the package type? I'm also asking about the maximum pressure for other QFN type devices. But the answers are not the same. Please refer to

Hi Hailiang,

There is some additional margin on that 10N force. I can contact the packaging team and get you an answer specifically for the TPS54824, if they have any.

It will take me till end of the week or earlier.

Hi Hailiang,

The product and packaging teams do not have any additional data on this specific device except that 10N is a force that will not be an issue for long term. I am yet to get an answer on whether the force is identical for all QFN type packages.

Hi Hailiang,

I got the feedback that it differs from package to package. So, we cannot just compare all QFN packages. From PE and packaging team, the max pressure number for TPS54824 is 10N.
