TPS25762Q1EVM: TPS25762Q1EVM-146 Not Powering Port

Part Number: TPS25762Q1EVM

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am working with a TPS25762Q1EVM-146 eval-kit.  I have the "TPS257xx Q1 GUI" configuration tool installed.  I also have the "F311_03_10_0003" firmware downloaded.  If I configure and download new (or any) firmware (which appears to download correctly), the best I can get the eval-kit to do is to power a device for about 30 seconds before the USB charging port begins to blink.  While blinking, power is being enabled and disabled to the port.  Often, the unit just refuses to power the port.

Can you provide a working GUI configuration file that supports the typical charging profiles?... or help me understand why I can't get my eval-kit to work as I would expect it to.  I would be happy to provide any more details.

Thank you!

  • Hello Owen,

Are you using the latest GUI, v1.4.0?

Was the EVM operating normally before you programmed it?

What Sink device are you charging for your test? What USB cable are you using?

The LED blinking and intermittency does sound more like a hardware issue, but let's first try programming your board with the binary below.

  • Owen posted this to the forum on my behalf.  The firmware you provided did not change the behavior of my unit.  It simply is not putting power to the USB port.  I'll try to further describe my setup just in case I missed something simple.

I have a bench supply attached at 12V @ 5A.  I _think_ I have the jumpers set correctly (I haven't changed them from how the unit was shipped).  J6-all are installed.  J9-1,4 are installed.  J14-all are installed.  J18-1 is installed.  The rest are open.  The silk screening is basically illegible, but I think these are the values.  Under the "FLASH TO EEPROM" screen of the GUI tool, I entered the firmware you posted above.  I'm not sure if it matters, but I left the "Engineering" and "Production" keys to be that of the ones provided in the "F311_03_10_0003" firmware zip file.  I click "FLASH EEPROM" and confirm that I see "Device verification successful" and "Flash Complete".  I then power off my bench supply, wait a little while, and turn it back on.  My test device is a 1st or 2nd generation iPad Pro.  I also have a Raspberry Pi 4.  Neither report any charging or power at the port.  I've tried a 2ft Amazon Basics USB-C cable.  In addition, I tried the cable with my M1 MacBook.

Maybe I missed something simple or my unit is bad, although I did not abuse it to my knowledge.

  • Hello Christopher,

It sounds like the EVM maybe defected. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I will reach out to Owens so we can get a replacement EVM for you.

  • That would be awesome.  Thanks!  I'll be happy just knowing I'm not crazy.

  • Hey Christopher,

Sure thing. Owen will be in touch soon.
