BQ24192: Charge Termination

Part Number: BQ24192
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25628, BQ25622

Tool/software:

We are in the process of evaluating a new model using BQ24192 and are experiencing the following problem.

<Problem>
The Charge Termination Current is set to 128 mA, but the results vary greatly from 150 to 200 mA.
(Termination Current=128mA Charge Current=1024mA)

There is a large deviation from the ±20% accuracy in the specifications. Please provide possible reasons for the discrepancy.

Regards,
Kagawa

  • Hi Kagawa,

    The +/-20% accuracy spec is for the test condition of ITERM = 256mA. It is expected that accuracy will be worse for lower ITERM setting of 128mA.

    We have newer buck charger ICs such as the BQ25622 and BQ25628 where the minimum termination current setting is lower (10mA and 5mA respectively), and therefore the accuracy is improved at lower termination currents such as ITERM = 100mA.

    The BQ25622 has +/-15% accuracy spec at ITERM = 100mA and BQ25628 has +/-10% at ITERM = 100mA.

  • Hi Garrett-san,

    When use the BQ24192 with ITERM=128mA and ICHG=1024mA settings, do you know what the typ value and variation of ITERM will be?

    Kagawa

    Unfortunately we do not have this information available.
