UCC28950-Q1: 7KW PSFB Design

Part Number: UCC28950-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28950, UCC28070, UCC28951

Tool/software:

Hi ,

Input is 400V DC(from Front end PFC), output is 300V to 480V DC for EV battery charger ,is it advisable to use PSFB UCC28950 controller IC for this power level

Kindly let me know any design constraint

PFC output 400V is sufficient or need to boost to any other voltage 600V etc,for PFC i am using Interleaved PFC IC UCC28070

Thank you

  • Hello,

Your inquiry is under review and I will get back to you shortly.

  • Hello,

Phase shifted full bridge (PSFB) converters can be used for battery chargers.  The follow link will bring you to a 2 kW reference design using the UCC28951 phase shifted full bridge converter.

If you are interested in designing with the UCC28950 or UCC28951 in phase shifted full bridge converter the following link will bring you to an application note that goes through the step by step design process of phase shifted full bridge converter.

In regards to the PFC output voltage 390 V to 400 V is typical, so it is O.K. to use the 400 V output.
