We need the load switch with the below specs for the laptop display with active high enable pin.

Operating voltage: 8: 14V

Current Requirement: 3A

Kindly let us know if TPS259540DSG can be used as a load switch for laptop display.

We also want to now whether we can connect the EN pin directly with the 3.3V level Gpio pin, we want to use this pin as EN only.

Hi Udesh,

Yes, the EN pin can be directly pulled up using GPIO pin. The threshold for enable is 1.2V.

What all protection features are required in the end application? Some newer devices like TPS2597, TPS25981 should also be good fit for this. They offer lower Ron.

We want the load switch that can turn on and off the display backlight of laptop based on the EN pin so can we use the newer suggested parts.

Hi Udesh,

Yes, all the above-mentioned devices will work.

Correction: Since the application is load switch type, please consider TPS22811 instead of TPS25981 as it is load switch version of the eFuse.

No issue with TPS25981. It can handle your required 14V 3A operating conditions.
