TPS62813-Q1: Loop stability measurement

Part Number: TPS62813-Q1

Tool/software:

Is it possible to make a loop stability measurement with the fixed 1.2V output device (TPS628130AQWRWYRQ1) using the Network Analyzer technique described in the TI app note here? https://www.ti.com/lit/an/sluaai0/sluaai0.pdf?ts=1722925281692&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F

Also, is the feed forward capacitor (Cff) present internally in the fixed 1.2V output device (TPS628130AQWRWYRQ1)?  If not, does it need to be added?

  • Hello Jeff,

yes you can use the same method for loop stability measurement. It is not compulsory to add, you can check the performance and add if you need it.

    Thanks,

    Farheen

  • Hi Farheen,

Thank you.  Just to confirm my understanding, I can add a 10 ohm resistor from Vout to the FP pin to measure stability using the fixed output part (TPS628130AQWRWYRQ1), which has no feedback resistors to set the output voltage.  Adding Cff is optional and can be applied if needed.

If Cff is determined to be needed, where would it be applied?  Since the feedback resistors are no longer present, would it be applied from Vout to ground instead of across the feedback resistor?

    Thank you,

    Jeff

  • Hello Jeff,

Sorry Jeff if I confused you.

First yes, you can add 10ohm resistor from nearest Vout to FB...

Second....yes it is like an additional capacitance that you can add parallel to other Cout, it will not be feedforward cap exactly.

    Thanks,

    Farheen
