BQ28Z610: BQ28550 Learning Cycle document needed. As TI is not showing results for the part number BQ28550, Added BQ28Z610 as a dummy part number.

Part Number: BQ28Z610

Tool/software:

Hello Gentlemen,

I have been using BQ28550 in my design for the past 10 years. I am facing an issue in the field that my battery has a capacity of 19.3Whr  but the fuel gauge BQ28550 is reporting >20Whr.  As part of the investigation, I have tried running charge(2A) /Discharge(-1.3A) cycle.

1st cycle:charge(2A) /Discharge(-1.3A)

BQ28550 was reporting capacity in mAh throughout the cycle and at the end of discharge the max error switched from 4% to 2% and FCC decreased by 4%.

2nd cycle:charge(2A) /Discharge(-1.3A)

BQ28550 was reporting capacity in Whr throughout the discharge cycle with max error is 2% and the FCC values decreased by less than 0.1%.

Here are my questions to understand this scenario

1)Does BQ28550 has a learning cycle? if so please share the procedure.

                               2) What would be the probable cause for the fuel gauge to report a higher capacity (>20Whr) than actual (19.3Whr).

                               3) What would be reason for the fuel gauge BQ28550 to reports its capacity in mAh in cycle-1 and whr in cycle-2

Regards

Prakash
