BQ25186: Power Management Design Request

Part Number: BQ25186
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25155

Tool/software:

Hello, my team is looking for a solution to a problem we have, and we figured we'd reach out to you all to figure out what you have available.
Our system is comprised of a small 1 cell lipo battery, a LDO (1.9v), and a microcontroller. We want to be able to plug USB (2.0) in and have it both charge the battery and power the circuit. When USB is disconnected, the circuit should then revert back to the LiPO battery.
The microcontroller needs to maintain power during each switchover from battery power to USB, and vice-versa.
We are looking a power and space efficient method, and cost is a consideration as well. Do you all know of any chip that does this?
Thank you,
Dan Stetson

  • Hi Dan,

This should be achievable with most power-path chargers. For your application I'd recommend the BQ25155 as it is a simple and small implementation with an integrated LDO apt for smaller battery sizes and with a low quiescent current.
