ULQ2003A-Q1: Comparison of ULQ2003A-Q1 and TPL7407-Q1

Part Number: ULQ2003A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPL7407LA-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello team,

My customer wants to update some old devices, they used ULQ2003A-Q1(SO16 package) in previous projects, what is the device status now? Do you recommend it in new projects?

Besides, I found a similar device TPL7407LA-Q1, what is the main difference of these two parts? Can they achieve drop-in replacement without adjusting external circuits?

Thanks!

  • Hi Daniel,

ULQ2001A-Q1, specifically ULQ2003AQDRQ1 (SOIC 16) and ULQ2003APWRQ1 (TSSOP 16) are active and recommended for new projects.

TPL7407LA-Q1 uses MOSFETs instead of Darlington BJTs and has a lower output low (VCE,SAT equivalence) voltage. However, this part has a lower abs max voltage at 30V and requires COM to be connected to a voltage source to drive the gate circuitry. Also, TPL7407LA-Q1 is only in PW (TSSOP 16) package so it can't be dropped-in with ULQ D package. However, if the above conditions are satisfied then the TPL7407LA-Q1 can be drop-in with the ULQ PW package part.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
