REF5025: REF5025

Part Number: REF5025

Tool/software:

I'd like to use this to create a -2.5v reference (as well as another one for -12.5v reference, stacking a REF5010 and a REF5025). App note SBOA362 (Low-Noise Negative Reference Design with REF5025) does not show the simplest circuit to do this without the need for an inverting op-amp: tie the REF50xx Vcc to system ground, and use a pull-down resistor from the REF50xx GND pin to -5v (to generate a -2.5v reference voltage).

What's wrong with this simplistic approach?
