BQ25750: Question about FET current limits and protection

Part Number: BQ25750

Tool/software:

Hello,

In the linked BQ25750 FAQ on inrush current it was mentioned that "the BQ25750 has a built-in protection system to monitor the current through ACFETs and BATFETs during the power path switchover. The BQ25750 will turn-off the ACFETs or BATFETs if the current through the FETs is greater than 8A". I was looking through the datasheet of the BQ25750 and was unable to find any information on this limit.

My questions are:

1. Is this limit always in use? or only during the short period of time when the BATFET or ACFET is switching.

2. Can this limit be modified by an external resistor setting or register?

3. Is this limit mentioned in the datasheet? and if so which section(s)?

  • Hello Grant,

    1. This limit only applies while the BATFET and ACFET are switching.

    2. This setting can't be modified by registers. You can install an RC filter on the gate drive of the ACFETs and BATFETs and this will slow down the turn on of those FETs.

    3. We are working on adding this to the datasheet.

    Best Regards,
