TPS25751: Dead battery setting

Part Number: TPS25751

Tool/software:

Hi,

If our device such as a battery power bank. There may have battery empty condiction.

So in table 8-6, should we using AlwaysEnableSink mode? In this description it only can configuration by MCU, can't load from EEPROM, may I know why?

Because of safety reason? Is possible to let TPS25751 load configuration from EEPROM in dead battery?

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

If you are using an EEPROM, we recommend using Safe Mode, primarily because the sink path is more controlled and will reflect the configuration stored in the EEPROM.

Always Enable Sink is only needed if you need to power the system to configure the PD controller (using an external EC to load the config) and it requires the USB-C PD power path to provide power to the system.

With the EEPROM, it will power off of LDO3V3, which comes up automatically in dead battery mode and is powered from VBUS through the PD controller.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
