BQ25300: Weird behavior

Part Number: BQ25300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ28Z620

Tool/software:

Setup A: 4.2V input into BQ25300 -> BQ28Z620 -> no battery

Result A): stat LED constant on, 3.8V seen output from BQ25300 but blocked from battery terminal by BQ28Z620

Setup B: 4.2V input into BQ25300 -> BQ28Z620 -> battery (3.9V)

Result B: stat LED blinking, 3.9V seen output from BQ25300 and on battery terminal

  • So I realized that when I put the input voltage to 4.3V with the battery connected, the led lights on but current draw is very small. Then when I bump it up to 4.5V, the current draw picks up. But this is a problem because I really need it to work at 4.2V and datasheet said 4.1V is min. Right?

  • Hi,

    Please refer to 9.3.4.1.2 Input Voltage Dynamic Power Management (VINDPM) on the d/s. When VINDPM is triggered, the charge current is reduced.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
