TPS61500: Can TPS61500 work in PWM dimming mode with EN pull up to high?

Part Number: TPS61500

Tool/software:

Hi champs,

My customer has been using TPS61500 in PWM dimming mode with a PWM from MCU connected to EN pin.

In the new design, they are considering to cancel the MCU, and they do not need any dimming. Can they just keep EN pull up? Theoretically, I think it would be OK but we have 89% maximum duty cycle noted in the datasheet.

Could you kindly help to confirm? It is a bit confusing.

Regards,

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Yes. EN pin could keep high to realize 100% output dimming ratio.

The 89% max dutycycle spec is for switch dutycycle, instead of for EN pin.

BTW, could you please share the information of customer name, end-equipment and volume? We have some new device now, so I may provide you some more suitable solution.

    Thanks!

    Best,

    John.
