UCC23113: Circuit Design Question with the Single Buffer

Part Number: UCC23113

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Customer asked why there needs a single buffer here? What does it do? Could you please help provide your professional comments here? Thanks a lot.

BRs,

Francis

  • Hi Francis,

The additional input buffer is not strictly necessary. The e-diode input requires ~10mA of current; most GPIO pins can supply up to 20mA, which is enough to driver the input of the UCC23113. Sometimes it helps with noise immunity to have this buffer, since its output can have a lower impedance than a GPIO pin.

    Best regards,
