TPS54425: Factors causing input current change

Hello,

My customer is using TPS54425 as shown below.

- VIN = 12V

There is a difference in input current between the development board and the mass-produced board even though the output load is the same at 5 V.

Q1. Please review the above circuit design to see if there are any problems.

Q2. Can there be a difference in input current even if the output voltage and output load are the same in the same circuit?

Please advise on what may be causing this symptom.

Hi JH,

C192 should be 10-22pF.

Could you give me the number to show how much the difference of Input current? Is the input voltage same between the development board and the mass-produced board?

Thank you for your reply.

The differences between the two boards are as follows.

- Development board : 12V / 0.39A

- Mass-produced board : 12V / 0.25A

It is said that the product consists of the same circuit, and the 5V load conditions are also the same.

Hi JH,

if load is same, that means another 1.68W power loss on the device, this will cause higher temp rise on the device. Customer can check it.
