BQ4050: FUNCTION OF {FC, TC} & {FD, TD} BITS

Part Number: BQ4050

Tool/software:

Hello All,

I am in the process of learning BQ Studio and the function of the TI BQ4050 chip.

I seem to be confused by what the function of the bits in the subject is.

I know that FC and TC stand for fully charged and terminate charge respectively (same for FD and TD), but do these bits actually control whether the battery terminates charging / discharging once the threshold for them (either RSOC threshold and / or voltage threshold) are reached?

Thank you in advance for your time spent answering my question.

  • HI Umar,

These flags are supposed to be used as representation of whether the cell has been fully charged or discharge, and will also be set when certain protections have been triggered. However, I do not believe they effect the actual charging/discharging when they are set.

    Regards,

    Anthony
