UCC24612: Circuit Design Question in High-side Application

Hi Team,

Can this device work in high side right? There are 2 questions here, thanks:

  1. When start-up, seems the power FET doesn't work, diode can directly conduct?
  2. How this device get the Vg to achieve a voltage bigger than Vgsth of power FET?

    This can work in a high side application.  In a flyback when you first turn on the primary FET the VDD capacitor on the UCC24612 will charge.

    The voltage on the secondary winding will be -Vin*Ns/Np.  This will allow VCC to charge up to VIN*Ns/Np.  Just be careful that this voltage is never more than VDDmax.

    The following link will bring you to the User guide for the UCC24612 evaluation module.  You can order this evaluation module to evaluate high side and low side applications.  It might be worthwhile to order this evaluation module and evaluate it in your flyback converter in a high side application.
