TPS65994AD: Thunderbolt 4 Port A and Port B behavior are different

I want to know Q1 and Q2 it is a normal behavior or not?

if it is incorrect behavior which one we can solve this issue PD F/W or EC or schematic?

Please provide suggestions.

The first priority is Q2, if Port B is plug in first and port A is seconded this scenario will cause the system can not boot up.

can we check Q2 first?

I am jumping into this issue for Kevin at the moment. 

Please try these 3 suggestions to see if this will work:

• Set GlobalSystemConfig->Wait For Minimum Power = 1
• Set Thunderbolt Config -> I2C3 Configurable Delay = 0.5s (both ports)

Next, please verify a few things:

• When Port A is connected to the TBT dock, after the system boots, is there an EC that is clearing the DeadBattery flag? 
• I would need to see some I2C1/I2C2/I2C3 and PD logs to help with this further.

After i modify the setting system will no any input power 

• Set GlobalSystemConfig->Wait For Minimum Power = 1

when system boots EC will clearing deadbatter flag.

Yes, our design only Port A support PD-in 20V/3.25A 

I have ask Zoe help to send log file for you, please advise.

File list:

1. TI recommend  -->  follow your recommend setting and log port A and port B CC log

2.  Fail                   -->  this is port A plug in Type-C adapter first and then plug in Thunderbolt dock to port B

3.  OK                    -->  this is port A plug in Thunderbolt dock first and then plug in Type-C adapter to port B

For 2, we will need the logs. Thanks for that. I do have question though. 

If Thunderbolt dock is plugged into port B which is NOT PD capable, then the dock would not work. This is expected correct?

Port A adapter plug in is not recognized is that the issue when test 2 is done?
