TPS65224-Q1: Is there a way to initiate a reset of the PMIC?

Part Number: TPS65224-Q1

Tool/software:

We are trying to perform system tests for our product. As part of the testing we'd like to externally initiate a reset of the PMIC and confirm the behavior for powering down the supply rails --> PMIC restart --> power up sequence for system.

Is there a register write or any other way to initiate a reset of the PMIC that we can use to test and verify the behavior on reset?

  • Hi Nishant,

depending on the type of reset you want to initiate (warm reset, immediate shutdown, orderly shutdown) there are couple of options. For warm reset you should be able to configure and start the watchdog but not serve it. The watchdog will detect this error and issue a warm reset. For immediate and orderly shutdown you can use the rail groupings and voltage monitors. If you are using VMON1 then you can change its grouping depending on what kind of shutdown/reset you want to create and then change its voltage threshold to a 'wrong' value so that it will create an UVOV interrupt.

    regards,

    Niko
