TPS259827LEVM:TPS61377+TPS259827 can not power on at 3A

Part Number: TPS259827LEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61377

Tool/software:

Dear Sir

Vin=19V,Vout=24V,Iout=3A

Solution:TPS61377+TPS259827LEVM

Problem:It not have  24V  output,when power on at 3A

As below is fine-turn location at EVM board  remark place

The problem as below:

1.Check at TI E2E forum,TPS259827LEVM seem had a probelm can not full load(3A) power on,why electronic load machine can not use CC mode to test, must be to use CR mode?

2. At thermal , use refrigerant solve thermal problem, but it still can not power on at 3A.

3.The PG had  peak 0.8V,the problem is?

4.At power sequence,TPS61377+TPS259827LEVM,vout had rise time as below remark. Does it have any risk?

  • Hi William,

1.Check at TI E2E forum,TPS259827LEVM seem had a probelm can not full load(3A) power on,why electronic load machine can not use CC mode to test, must be to use CR mode?

CC load is not recommended. The device during startup may go into current limit if the inrush current is high. during the current limit mode of device, it acts like a current source and connecting a CC load (fixed current sink) to the device in series may result in incorrect waveforms.

Why is the Vout following vin during region (i) whereas region (ii) looks like startup. It looks like in region (i) the device is off. Here PG signal looks fine. It is going high only when supply is high.

Also I see that Vin is 24.5V which is above the maximum recommended range of 24V.

Again I am little confused, why is vout going higher than vin.

    Best Regards,
    Arush
