LMG3411R050: DC or RMS current defined

Part Number: LMG3411R050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3422R030,

Tool/software:

I see that both the 3422/6 and 3650 series have a DC or RMS current value defined, as well as a 10uS Pulse current specification;
If the current width exceeds 10uS during an occasional switching cycle, such as reaching 11us, but the peak value does not exceed and OCP is not triggered, is it necessary to additionally assess the risk in this case?

In addition, the 3411/0 series only has a DC current specification, a 100nS specification, but no current specification with a width of 10uS;
If the 3411/0 series is used, if the occasional Peak current exceeds the Continuous IDS specification, how should the risk be assessed?

BR,

Gary

  • Hi Gary,

    For LMG3422R030, the FET drain intrinsic positive pulsed current rating for tp < 10µs is 120A. However, the device will never actually encounter this condition due to the internal overcurrent protection current limit of 70A typical.

     For LMG3411R050, the occasional peak current exceeding the continuous Ids spec is not a concern, given that the intrinsic pulsed Ids spec up  to 130A for <100ns.

    Best Regards,

    John
