The TPS62A02N has an OUT terminal, and it says that it should be connected to an output voltage, but what is it used to control internally?

If it is not used internally, can the OUT terminal be set to floating?

The OUT terminal is a fast signal path for output voltage regulation. It should be connected to the output voltage at the filter capacitance as shown in Figure 8-3 of the datasheet. It should not left floating.

Thank you. So is there a difference in load response between the TPS62A02 and the TPS62A02N?

Could you please let me know if there are any advantages to having or not having an OUT terminal?

I need to clarify internally on the OUT pin details, which will be delayed due to vacation of the experts. I will follow up and provide an update around Sep. 12th. For now I only can recommend to follow the datasheet for OUT pin configuration.

Hello Hirotsugu,

I was able to clarify that the OUT pin is actually not used by the TPS62A02N. But it should also not left floating. The OUT pin should be connected to Vout for compatibility reasons when a pin to pin compatible design is intended. Other IC manufacturers need that pin signal to meet their performance. But for the TPS62A02N it is not necessary.
