UA78M: Legacy and new chip full part name

Part Number: UA78M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UA78L

Tool/software:

Dear team,

We can see comment regarding new chip at UA78M datasheet like below.

How can we recognize "new chip"? Does new chip have a different part name or not?

In case of UA78L series, New chip has additional suffix, M3. Is there any suffix on UA78M new chip?

Please let me know your opinion.

Thank you.

  • Hey Nimo,

Thanks a lot for reaching out. For UA78M, there is no additional suffix M3 used to highlight the New chip devices.

As explained in the datasheet, Devices can ship with the legacy chip (CSO: SFB) or the new chip (CSO: RFB). The reel packaging label provides CSO information to distinguish which chip is being used. Device performance for new and legacy chips is denoted throughout the data sheet.

Here is the snapshot of the Device Nomenclature table from the datasheet:

Please review and let me know in case further details are needed.

  • Hello Rohit,

    Thank you for your comment.

If the customer want to use new chip device with 7~30 input range and -40~125 temp range, How can I get new chip sample?

If there is no different part name, After get a sample, can the customer know if the chip is new or regacy?

    Thank you.

  • Hey Dino,

Based on the shipping/packaging label present on the parts received, it can be identified that it is a new chip (CSO:RFB) or legacy chip (CSO:SFB).

You can place the ZS request and we will ensure that new chip are shipped to the customer which support the required performance parameters.

Please let me know in case further details are needed.

    Regards,
    Rohit
