BQ25730: Impact of TSHUT function being changed to reserved

Part Number: BQ25730

Tool/software:

Dear Sirs and Madams,

We are evaluating the BQ25730 and noticed a change in the datasheet, so we checked the details.

In the datasheet published in February 2021, thermal shutdown (TSHUT) was listed in bit 2 of the ProchotStatus Register, but in the datasheet published in January 2024, this has been changed to reserved.

So We have the following questions.

(a) Why has the TSHUT register become reserved?

(b) The data sheet still contains the description of the TSHUT function, but does this mean that the TSHUT function is still enabled?

If the TSHUT function is still active,

(c)  The above statement says, "When the junction temperature reaches 155°C, the charger converter turns off for self-protection."

But do you know which charger functions will be turned off?

(d) When the converter is turned off by TSHUT, is it possible to read the reserved TSHUT register?

If it is not possible to read it, is there a way for the MCU or other device to confirm that TSHUT has occurred?

Regards,

MM
