TLV809E: TLV809EA29DBZR_ Support

Part Number: TLV809E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV809,

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are using TLV809EA29DBZR IC for voltage monitoring, If the voltage is below 2.93V it will generate logic low reset after 200ms delay.  If the voltage is above 2.93V the reset signal will be high.
Here we have VDD 3.3V still we are not getting reset high signal, it is always low. can you please help me on this.

What we have tried till now...
1. We have remove R27 and C64 the reset is low
2. we have replace the IC still the output IS low

  • Hi Dhaval,

Thanks for your question. I think your steps to investigate this is issue make really sense to me. Normally we recommend 0.1 uF capacitor at VDD, and you have bigger than that. If the input is too slow this may affect the reset output. Could you please remove it and test it if this will solve your issue?

If you still have the issue after removing 1 uF cap, the other step could be using TLV803EA29EVM with your IC's to see if the issue still continues after you remove the TLV809 from your circuit. I want to see if the AND gate input  pin pulling more current than the recommended current level.

Please find the recommended operation condition that shows that the TLV809 reset output current is 5 mA in below.

    Best,

    Sila

  • Hi Sila,

Thanks for the response..If 1uf cap creating issue then reset signal will take more time to become high, Here there is not any activity on reset which indicate some issue in IC of pinout.

Can you please check and confirm really SOT 23 BOTH PACKAGE HAVE DIFFERENT PIN OUT? Or some mistake in datasheet? because when we rotate the IC and mount on board it start working and we got the reset high.

  • Hi Dhaval,

Could you please let me know what is your device marking? Like can you tell me what is written on top of the IC? And also can you  please a picture that shows your connection when you rotate the IC?

I'm just trying to understand your issue so that I can check with my team.

    Best,

    Sila

  • Hi Sila,

Marking to to of IC is 929A. Picture 1. is original picture  and picture 2 after rotating the IC

    1.

    2.

Marking is now on bottom side

  • Hi Dhaval, Thanks for providing more information on your inquiry. By rotating the pins would not be locating properly on the pad. I wanted to check what do you mean by rotating.

Thanks again for providing image. From my understanding, you are flipping the IC upside down in the second picture. Like as you said top marking ( 929A is on the bottom).

I also checked the IC (929A) you have and it is matching with the datasheet. Please refer the datasheet section 13 for more information on the Mechanical, Packaging, and Orderable Information.

If you look at the first picture you provide, the dot shows Pin1( Reset Pin) looks like it is not in the correct location. Please find my highlights in below.

It seems like somehow the footprint is mirrored in your application. I think you are grounding the Reset pin in the above configuration.

    Hope this helps!

    Best Regards,

    Sila

  • Hi Sila,

I am not satisfied with your opinion, this dot is not for this IC, This dot is for U8 IC. It seems our decal is correct.

We follow section 6 DBZR pinout and decal, kindly confirm there is two different pin out for same package IC. Is this correct in datasheet.

Check table 12-1 as per this table our part is TLV809EA29DBZR and pin no 1 is Reset, Pin 2 is GND and Pin 3 is VDD,  you can see our schematic we follow the same connection and decal as per connection still the IC is not working as per expectation, when we flip the IC is start working as per our expectation.

It seems like IC has  marking as per TLV809EA29DBZR part no but actually it is working like TLV809EA29DBZ part.

I think some issue in your ordering table 12-1, R is for tape and reel also.In your PACKAGING INFORMATION IN datasheet it also indicate the "R" as tape and Reel,

actual part number will be TLV809EA29 R DBZ R BUT IT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN DATASHEET.

    I hope you understand it.

  • Hi Dhaval,

Sorry for the delayed response! We had Monday off due to Labor Day in the US. Thanks for clarifying the the dot is belong to U8 footprint. From above picture, it looked like it's belong to the TLV809.

Could you please let me know how many units it's behaving this way? Is it only one- unit needs to be flipped to get desired RESET behavior?

It seems like there are 2 reason can cause your inquiry either internal package issue or a layout issue. For me to better support you we need to eliminate the layout issue option. Is it possible you to get TLV803EA29EVM  to test if you still seeing the issue on the EVM? I want to check we still need to flip the IC there. This way we can prove it is on the unit

While you testing with EVM, I can check with our backend team at the same time.

    Best,

    Sila

  • HI Silla,

Thanks for the response, The used part in schematic and received part is seems different due to that we have to flip the IC and mount it again.

You can check below image you will understand the issue. Does the TI have the part which we have used in our schematic we need 20 samples for the same.

  • Hi Dhaval,

Thanks for clarifying that you designed your layout with R pinout option. Currently, we haven't released R pinout option for TLV809E. That is why it's not on the datasheet.

I will check with a TI representative to contact with you for the further steps.

    Best Regards,

    Sila
