BQ25960: Looking for charging solution for our tablet

Hi TI Team, 

We are looking for a charging solution for our tablet, which is equipped with a 20Ah 0.5c battery. We need a charging IC that can provide at least 7 amps just to run the system and extra amp to simultaneously charg the battery. We have already selected a fuel gauge IC for the battery management but need assistance in choosing the appropriate charging IC that meets these requirements.

Could you please suggest a suitable charging solution for this application?

    Hello Saket,

    In a typical system, the BQ25960 is used to handle fast charging, while a main charger manages pre-charge and charge termination to achieve the highest possible efficiency. BQ25960 itself does not provide a regulated output for the system load; however, a main charger could offer this.

    Could you please help to answer the following?

    • What is the range of your VBAT and VSYS?
    • Could you clarify the expected system load and charging current?
    • Are there any specific charger features you are looking for?
