Hi,

I need help in choosing a DC DC converter considering the following requirements

Input Soruce:

5V coming through AC DC converter
Five D cell connected in series 4.5 to 8.25V

I have to provide power to a 4G Module so noise and clean power is crucial.

The above power source one at a time will use but the circuit must entertain both power without changing hardware

The load current required is 3A and 3.8V.

I have been recommended that do not feed buck boost power to 4G module and add some low dropout regulator in between.

Any suggestion or help plz?

Hi Ali,

Just want to clarify your requirement, so you will need a DCDC with input range from 4.5-8.25V, Vout=3.8V, Iout=3A and you also have a strict requirement of the output noise. Am I correct?

I am also open to a suggestion so it can take input from power sources and stabilize power(because of battery different range) and output some voltages that i can feed to low dropout LDO. LDO output will be more reliable to feed to LTE module than DC DC converter.

Hi Ali,

TPS564257 will be a good option here. If you would like better low noise and low ripple solution, we also have TPS62913 (3A) / TPS62914 (4.5A) achieves low noise & low ripple through an integrated 2^nd stage ferrite bead filter compensation, eliminating the need for the traditional external LDO to reach the same noise/ripple spec. By eliminating the LDO, it also helps achieve higher system efficiency in a smaller solution size and a lower BOM cost.

The reason why i want to change TPS564257 is to have low noise along with other parameters.
I don't see any information that define LOW noise in TPS62903 similar to TPS62913.

Can you help me to understand it plz?
