HD3SS3220: ID pin pulses low depending on what is attached to USB-C port

Tool/software:

ID is used to enable power onto the bus using a PFET. The PFET is rated at 5.8A.

With nothing connected ID bit is high.

With only a mouse connected ID bit is low.

If more than the mouse, i.e. hub, keyboard, mouse is connected, ID pin pulses low for about 30us and then goes high again.

I get the pulsed behavior if only a USB thumb drive is inserted.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I have a few questions to narrow down the issue:

1. Can you show more of the schematic around the ID pullup, the 5V source for VBUS/VDD5, and the I2C connections? If you can attach this as a PDF that would help as well.

2. I see you're using this device in I2C mode. What writes are you making to the HD3SS3220?

3. Are you making a DFP or DRP in this application?
