BQ25798: I2C

Part Number: BQ25798

Tool/software:

1) I would like to pull up the I2C line of the bq25798 with +5V, the microcontroller operating voltage.
I am aware that this is not a problem since it is within the absolute maximum ratings, but please let me know if there are any problems.

2) The datasheet lists the specs when the I2C communication line is pulled up at 1.8 V. Do these spec values also apply when the pull-up voltage is 5 V?

3) I2C specs such as setup-time, hold-time, etc. are not listed in the data sheet.
Is it correct to understand that I2C specs not specified in the bq25798 data sheet are in accordance with the NXP standard?

  • Hi Kagawa,

Thanks for reaching out. We are in US holiday weekend. A team member will respond to you mid next week. Thanks for your understanding

  • Hi Kagawa,

    1) The device should work at 5V but we haven't tested at 5V and can't warranty operation outside of datasheet spec.

    2) The device should work at 5V but we haven't tested at 5V and can't warranty operation outside of datasheet spec.

    3) We are compatible with the NXP spec but are not 100% compliant. For example, the NXP spec hi and low voltages are percentages of pull up where we are a fixed pullup voltage.
