TPS61165: How to add short-circuit protection on led+ / led- ?

What is your LED string voltage? It is strange that the short occurs frequently.

We use 4 leds of 6V, so around 24V. It doesn't happen that often like in normal use, only during the assembly, so I think it can be caused by the wires connection or something.

It is not easy to add short circuit protection, and even if you added, if the LED is short during assembly, it will still cause the board cannot work. So I suggest you check your assembly process to avoid the short.

It’s okay if the board doesn’t work, the real problem here is that it breaks components that need to be replaced. Plus I think that the short-circuit is temporary, it never occurs during the use of the product when in the assembly is done.

Do you have any solution in mind by any chance? I saw some people adding TVS diode, I don’t think this would fix this issue though. Maybe changing the Schottky diode for a more powerful one?

OK, let me think some work around, but firstly could you please let me know which components are usually broken in the test? Only the diodes and FB resistor?

It will be helpful if you have measured the current waveform on input side to see the amplitude when the circuit is short.

Sorry for my late response, we were at an exhibition until yesterday.

Most of the time it's the diode yes, sometimes it's the FB resistor (I measure open-circuit instead of almost short-circuit), and very rarely it's the TPS itself.

I could try to get the measure yes, but won't be able to before next week I think.
